I purchased all three colors of these nails, intending to use the black ones for hanging items in my kitchen and keeping the others on hand. They arrived in containers featuring the Mr. Pen logo, along with a thank you note and a mustache cutout.
Upon opening the black nails, I was disappointed by their size. They felt too small and thin, with some being bent or warped, and the heads were incredibly tiny. To confirm my suspicions, I measured them with a caliper, and they were indeed smaller than advertised. The stated mm size seemed to refer to the head, but even those were at least half a mm smaller than claimed. The nails themselves ranged from 1.2mm to 1.8mm in diameter, depending on their color.
In my photos, I used the largest nails, and you can clearly see the difference in head sizes. Measuring with the caliper revealed a 0.1mm variation between colors: the gold ones measured 1.8mm, the silver 1.7mm, and the black 1.6mm. Surprisingly, the gold nails felt the most normal to hold, and only the heads of the gold and silver nails matched the description.
Unfortunately, the black nails, which I intended to use, are inadequate, so I’ll have to opt for a gold one instead. I’m relieved I didnât just buy the black ones. The thank you note mentions that if I’m not satisfied, they offer replacements or refunds, so I plan to take advantage of that for these.
